Gender Reveal Party

Alternatively titled "One of the best days of my life!"

Christian and I decided early on in my pregnancy that it would be just the two of us (and the doctors of course) in the delivery room. So we decided we wanted to make a big deal out of finding out the gender with our parents. We wanted to make it really special and have them share in that precious moment with us. We made an appointment with a local place to have a session with all 6 (7 if you count baby moots) of us to find out together the gender of baby moots! We later decided that we wanted to include the rest of our family in having a big celebration to share our great news...so we began planning a "Gender Reveal Party". Here were the invitations we sent to our precious family and friends.

So at 3:00 we scheduled a session with myself (and baby moots), Christian, and both sets of our parents to go to the sonographer to meet our baby! It was such an amazing experience...I just knew in my heart of hearts we were having a boy. I had convinced myself based on how I had felt, my cravings, and the heartbeat that it was no doubt gonna be a boy. Deep down...I admit, I desperately wanted a girl.

On the big screen we instantly saw our precious baby for the first time (second if you count when we saw it at 7 weeks...however at that point it was a teeny tiny peanut). A real baby...it was breathtaking, to see this life that God placed in our lives...it was just amazing. The sonographer was so sweet and began to point out features and parts and then I hear her say..."Looks like we have a baby...................GIRL!" The room filled with screams of delight and I began to sob...God had totally given me the desires of my heart...to me it was a complete miracle!

We continued to see glimpses of our precious daughter on the screen and we were just filled with wonder and awe. I could have spent hours in there just watching her move around. However, we had a big party to get to and more people to share our news with!

Our party was that same evening and we decided to do dinner and a cupcake theme...instead of cutting into a cake we decided to share our fabulous news with the guests by giving them each a cupcake and when they took a bite out of it...cream filling would reveal the gender of our baby. I had a dear friend make the cupcakes for me and I just texted her after the sonogram appointment, and she quickly filled the cupcakes with filling for the party later that evening. It worked fabulously...I would totally recommend that route over the full cake because everyone could see for themselves exactly what baby moots was gonna be!

We decked the house out in pink and blue everything...keeping the gender a surpise for our siblings, grandparents, family and friends...we wanted to keep them guessing up to the point of the big reveal.

We also had everyone wear the color shirt they felt like we were having...and I must say we had a ton more blue shirts than pink. The consensus in the room was definately overwhelmingly boy!
We ate dinner and then played a quick game before passing out the cupcakes. We counted it down and then everyone took a bite....again screams of delight and gasps filled the house...it was just so precious!

GIRRRRLLLL...everyone was so surprised and thrilled! It was an incredible day...one that will be remembered and cherished forever. The day we were formally introduced to our precious baby girl....Thank you Father for this blessing. May we bring her up in Your will.

16 weeks...4 months!

Can you believe it has been 16 weeks already. I think I can now officially state my pregnancy progress in months instead of weeks. I am 4 MONTHS PREGNANT! Thank you Lord!!

Sickness/Feelings: I still have been feeling wonderful...absolutely no morning sickness or nausea. The only things that are different are that around 7:30 at night I begin to feel incredibly uncomfortable...almost in pain. The cure...go to bed. Yep. I am usually asleep by around 8:15 every night. Another think I notice is at night, my hands and feet become extremely dry. My sweet hubby has been rubbing my feet with lotion every night before I go to bed...he hates this and complains every night, but it was so sweet because the other night I went straight to bed and didn't ask for him to rub my feet, and he came in and put lotion on his hands and said "give me a foot!" Isn't that precious! I can't blame him for his reluctance...I wouldn't come near his feet with a 20 foot pole...feet are just so nasty...not mine of course.

Appetite/Weight Gain: So far the only things I am craving are Subway sandwiches and oatmeal pies. It was so sweet because at school the other day, I mentioned to my 7th graders that I had been craving oatmeal pies, and the very next day, I had two students bring me huge boxes of oatmeal pies...let's just say they will be receiving an A in my class! I am trying to eat more...however, it has been difficult because of the pain/uncomfortableness that it brings...kinda a catch 22. I know I need to be eating more for the baby...but it is so painful to eat more. I'm gonna try some smoothies to see if that helps with the pain.

Feelings/Emotions: I think my emotions are still pretty calm, cool and collective although you may have to ask Christian on that one...

Boy/Girl Feelings: I still think it's a boy. I am almost convinced that it is a boy, in fact. We find out exactly what we are having in 2 weeks and we cannot wait! We are gonna have both sets of parents in the room when we find out, then we are gonna celebrate with our siblings at a "Gender Reveal" party! What fun!

Big Daddy: Christian still continues to amaze me with his sweetness and compassion. Poor thing has been living the bachelor life lately because I don't cook and I'm in bed asleep by 8:15. He has watched more "manly" movies these last 4 months than all the years of his life! He is so good about helping me clean, do laundry and just taking care of household business...not to mention my amazing foot rubs at night!!

Upcoming Events: Friday the 27th we find out the gender!! Absolutely cannot wait! It will become so real at that point!

Thank you Lord for this precious life...may this baby be a blessing to You, Father!

Happy Mother's Day and Emorie's 1st B-day

First off I want to say a big Happy Mother's Day to my amazing mom and mother-in-law. I am so blessed with Godly moms who love and support me each day! Christian and I laugh because sometimes we think our mothers were separated at birth...they are so much alike! Even down to the small things...I am convinced that they are long lost sisters! For example...Mrs. Brenda has the hardest time remembering the name "Menchies" (you know...the frozen yogurt place), she always says, "I can't wait to go to Munchies". Everytime. LOL...it is so funny. Well, the other day my mom was at my house and Christian was telling her we went to Menchies the previous night, and my mom goes, "Oh...you went to Manchies?...I've never heard of that place." Christian was like, "no, Menchies" and my mom went "Munchies?" and we just died laughing cause both of them can't get it right. Gotta love em!

Last weekend we went to our precious niece's 1st birthday party. I think 1st birthday's are so special because they are a celebration of the baby's first year but also a celebration for the parents who survived baby's first year!

Emorie's party was so feminine and sweet...just like little Em! She is such a doll, I could just eat her up!

Here she is with her beautiful mama! Casie is such an amazing mama and I am so proud of her and her wonderful mothering skills! Happy Mother's Day to you too Casie!! You are one awesome mommy!

I love this one cause it seems as if Emorie is saying "what is the hold up? Where is my cake?"

She is so dainty...even when eating her cake she is just so feminine!

And of course, who better to help you eat your birthday cake than your food admiring daddy! So sweet!

It was a great party. There were so many babies around that it wore me out just watching all of them toddle around. I had to take a nap after the party just from watching all the baby excitement!

So Happy Birthday Em Jay! And Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful mothers out there...especially mine!
