Show us your life...Custom Invitations

Kelly's Korner is doing a fun, show and tell. It's all about what you make...so I thought I'd join in.

I absolutely love doing custom invites. It is one of the funnest part of doing graphic design. Being able to be apart of someone's special occasion is a huge honor. Below are a few invites I have done in the past few months...

Duck Drama

Our dearest puppy has fallen in love.
With a huge, ugly duck.

She seriously will whine for this duck until you give it to her. I can hide it in a closet, and she will sniff it out and find it. I'll try and throw her off by hiding it in a different closet... no luck...she will find it.
The duck isn't just any ordinary duck...it quacks out your favorite farm animal songs. For instance...wanna hear "Old McDonald" or "Five Little Ducks"...don't worry, the duck will quack along to those favorite tunes for you.

Sometimes she is ferocious and growls and tosses him around. Other times she is sweet and wants to cuddle with the duck.

It is so dang cute...but so dang annoying.

And at night...she doesn't want to let it go. She wants to keep playing. Now I know what you are thinking...come on Ash...what kind of heartless mother are you...just let her sleep with the doggone duck...but here is the thing... do you want to fall asleep listening to the quack version of Old McDonald? And goodness knows, that duck needs a rest from Lexie.
Go on, take a look, this is what we had to deal with last night at 10:30 pm. She just wouldn't give it up.

Anyone know any good therapist?

Monsters among us

The morning began just like any other morning. I rose from my slumber and proceeded to get myself dressed and ready for the day! After feeding Lex, I went back to the bedroom to pick up my clothes and low and behold...staring back at me with the utmost creepiness was a huge, nasty, thick spider. For some reason, the thicker they are...the more they freak me out. Skinny ones don't intimidate me as much. Anyway, this bad boy was huge and mean. I froze. I freaked.

I grabbed my phone and texted my hubby to get home immediately and kill this monster. After that plea for help, I pulled up my bootstraps and decided it was up to me to destroy this enemy. So I frantically searched for something to throw on top of it. All I could find was a large children's book. Doesn't seem so ferocious when all you can find is a sweet book titled, "Puppy Playtime".

After finding my weapon, I returned to the spot where I found the spider and to my horror...it was gone. Yep...gone like the wind.

So I grab some towels, shut the door, and stuff the towels under the doorway until my hubby gets home. He returns from working out and calmly states to me "baby, spiders can't hurt you."

Um hello...has he seen Arachnophobia? Um...spiders are not your friend. Spiders are the enemy.
We never found the monstrous beast, but we did invest in an $80.00 potion that will destroy all creatures within like 100 ft. of our house. Okay, maybe that was an exaggeration, but I would like to think it would be that effective.

So I would like to leave you, my fellow spider haters, with these interesting facts on spiders. Not because I want you to be more educated about spiders, but because I hope you will join me in my disgust for all things creepy.

1.)Spiders can sustain hundreds of atmospheres of pressure, and can work flawlessly in a vacuum. Scientists have discovered spiders working at both the bottom of the sea and in the ultra-thin atmosphere thirty miles above the Earth. (Isn't this just comforting to know...they are virtually indestructible)

2.)Most household spiders come from the fact that most people don't properly wash their new clothing after purchase. 90% of clothing purchased at retail stores contain spider eggs laid during shipment.

3.)Webs get dirty and torn, so lots of spiders make a new one every day. They don't waste the old one, though--they roll it up into a ball and eat it!
(Oh please...don't make them sound resourceful)

4.)Female spiders sometimes eat their mates, even while they are mating.

5.)A spider eats about 2,000 insects a year, so spiders are good to have around the home. (um no...I don't care if they burp gold...I do NOT think they are good to have around. Please.)

Photoshop Actions

I am no expert when it comes to cameras and photos. In fact, until recently...(meaning when I married Christian and I inherited or rather stole his camera), I didn't even own a camera. However, there is just so much cuteness around me and I cannot help myself from snapping away furiously in their faces!

I have recently been playing with Photoshop and let me just tell you...it is amazing. Totally rocks. I have found myself playing around with photos for hours when I should be doing laundry...dishes...cleaning...oh my...the list could go on and on.

There is something called "Photoshop Actions" which are basically like editing tools for the dumb and hopeless. Ding. Ding. Ding. I qualify! Anyway, Pioneer Woman has some free actions on her website that are amazing! If you have Photoshop or lightroom, you must download these actions.

If you don't have photoshop or lightroom, I would highly recommend saving to invest in one of those programs! It will change your life. Okay...that was a little dramatic. But really...you will love it!

Here are some samples of the transformations that can take place. Oh and by the way...SOTC stands for "straight out of the camera".

Here is little Lexie Lou Lou. This was when she was just a puppy and oh so cute. Man, they just grow up so fast don't they?
Isn't that amazing? Totally changes and enhances the photos.
Here is my favorite nephew ever. Sometimes, when I feel down or blue, I'll just pull up this picture and imagine Jackson telling me, "Way to go Aunt Ashlee"! After that...I feel much better!

This last image is from our "Fancy Nancy Party" my mom had the other night. We all dressed up as fancy as possible and enjoyed parfaits and other fine foods! Well...not exactly fine foods...rather dinner requested by the girls...chicken nuggets and mac and cheese! Classy! The girls had a blast!

Well...there you have it! All my knowledge of photoshop in one tiny blog post! Which photo actions are your favorite?
